What We Believe

Saint Peter's Lutheran Church is an Evangelical community of Christian believers. "Evangelical" is derived from the German word that means "Good News."

God loves the world and sent Jesus to show us the Way, the Truth, and the Life. That is "good news" because it means we have a path to follow and a place to go for health, healing, and solace. God pulls us out of a life of self-centered misery so we can in-turn live to serve the people God loves As such, we are a part of God's reign of mercy today.

We believe that God is expressed in the mystery of the Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah or "Christ," that he is what it would look like if God were walking on the Earth as one of us.

Because Jesus is in Heaven with God, we believe Jesus' promise that the Holy Spirit is present now and walking along side of us, guiding us, loving us, consoling, disciplining, and directing us.

We believe that God, through the Biblical Word and the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, offers us unmerited forgiveness of our sins, now and throughout eternity.
