| Midweek Advent Worships 7:00 p.m. This year’s Advent theme is based on Jack and Judith Balswick’s book entitled, “The Family: A Christian Perspective On The Contemporary Home.” As they speak of the theology of family relationships, they list stages or elements present in God’s relationship with humanity as well as human relationships with one another. These stages are: 1) Covenant; 2) Grace: 3) Empowerment. These stages are most clearly seen in the coming of Christ at Christmas. His coming fulfilled God’s covenant with humankind. Needless to say, no such covenant could have happened without pure grace and mercy on God’s part. Christ’s coming brought new life and new hope for humankind. He made relationship with God and one another possible. Through the Means of Grace Christ empowers people to new life. May this Advent bring us renewal! We come to this time in the church year together and committed to give this time to God and to his glory.
